WE DO

"Stand in The Gap" - To connect the struggling veteran with the help they need to succeed. We will help veterans get "plugged in" with existing services in the area and will be an effective platform in seeing them through challenging times.

In this rural area, the gaps can be significant. Our goal? FILL THEM!

The amount of need appears to be never-ending. With that said, an assessment of matching the real need against the best assistance option can be challenging. Adequate time, cost-effective means and reliable effort don't always equal success. We will use a situational conditions-based approach to ensuring the veteran in need is not being enabled to stay "stuck in the mud". How the veteran got to this point needs to be accurately assessed to be a success. Being goal-oriented with credible milestones and timelines should prove successful.

Financial Help

Call Center

The call center will be an information collection and sharing node. We will try to have as big a list of verified and reliable resource available. This will be the most critical aspect of our organization: Communicating, Collaborating & Coordinating (C3).

Shelter

A shelter is in our future.

To date, we haven't assessed an accurate account of homeless veterans in our area.

We will continue assess as time

Transportation

There are current modes of transportation but none that can respond on short-notice. We hope to be able to be more responsive for the near-term appointments. We also hope to provide transportation for those that have none to get to jobs, job interviews or medical appointments.

Food

Food is one of those needs that we will collaborate with since there are organizations that already provide this service. Our goal is to ensure basic assistance but with a verification process to ensure non-abuse of existing resources.

Job Training

There are a number of trades and industries looking for dependable and reliable workers in this area.

We will partner with businesses to provide an avenue to get the veteran back on their feet. The need to succeed is essential for their well-being.

Counseling or Therapies

The goal is to collaborate with medical professionals outside the VA system until we can get the qualifying veteran the help they need within that system.

In some cases, we may link the veteran with services near-term due delays in the system. There already exists a number of providers in our region that we can partner with.

Eligibility

The system can be challenging to navigate even in the best of circumstances. We hope to assist veterans that aren't currently in the VA system with ways to get into the system. Our support may not end when that happens but we'll know how to get them started.

It will take a village but we will be good stewards of every dollar donated. We have no paid staff and our board and advisors are all volunteer because they have a passion to help. These people are some of the best and have years of experience assisting others in need.

We expect that to continue with this endeavor and we're so grateful of the initial feedback shown us.
